Hello all!  We are all safe here and pretty dry considering the Hurricane that went thru.  We want to thank all of you who were our prayer warriors during the past few days.  The country was spared what could have been an absolute horrific experience when Hurricane Dean shifted and went further south of Kingston.  We had strong winds for about 3 hrs. on Sunday when it was at it's worst- but besides that we were able to keep the girls entertained with board games and coloring books the entire day and no tears of panic were shed.  We went out yesterday and surveyed the surrounding areas and it was a pretty amazing sight.  However, most of the damage was sheets of zinc that were ripped off and unfortunately one house was collapsed- but the owners had been staying at a better place so no injuries were reported - Praise God!  We are still without power and probably will be for the next few weeks- however we have a generator we can use at times to keep... More »

August Review   “You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called from its farthest regions, and said to you, ‘You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you away.  Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you.  I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.’ ” -Isaiah 41:10   We hope that this email finds that you all have had a very blessed summer and are preparing for fall and a new school year for some!  We are doing the same in this part of the world – minus the change in temperature.    With the summer winding down, we find ourselves with a little over a month long break with no teams.  We are hoping to receive the container with our furniture and appliances in the next few days.  This break should give us some time to get these things moved in somewhere and have us settled and ready again for teams come... More »

The Mission Training International facility is located in Palmer Lake, Colorado.  It is a conference center/hotel with a fully equipped kitchen.  Our time here has been spent in the classroom learning about various aspects of our upcoming experiences as missionaries in the field.  Culture shock and how to push through it, dealing with our new home/surroundings, maintaining our spiritual vitality, and helping our children deal with these things are just a few of the modules we have been in.  We are in training with 30 other adults and 7 children who are going to be doing mission work in 16 countries.  It has been a truly amazing experience for our family and we feel so fortunate that we have met these other families and individuals who have felt the call to serve.  Throughout the 3 weeks we will have become so close to many of these people that saying goodbye will be difficult.  The girls have found new friends and will enjoy... More »
